TAFC.2011.13 ~ Corn, Wine and Oil Set with Serviceman’s Masonic Credentials


Five part object consisting of a canvas pouch printed with an AASR eagle emblem, a leather folder containing a letter in English, French, Italian & German, and three small glass vials, one with corn, one with dried tannin from wine, and one currently empty which would have contained oil.

The letter, dated Feb 20, 1918, identifies the carrier as Roy F Shults, a member of the US Expeditionary Force and asks that he be given assistance by any brother finding him in distress.
